About Us

Fern Creek Cabins are owned and operated by Peggy Blankenship, along with her two sons who love their horses and their journeys throughout the state. Peggy says that living in West Virginia is truly awe-inspiring and she is constantly amazed at the beauty she sees every day, and she enjoys opening her doors so others can also experience the wonder of West Virginia.

For those interested in rafting trips, we offer special vacation packages through New and Gauley River Adventures. We also offer rock climbing packages with Hard Rock Climbing Services.

State and National Parks: New River Gorge National River, Gauley River National Recreational Area, Hawks Nest State Park, Babcock State Park and Glade Creek Gristmill, Carnifex Ferry Battlefield, and historic Camp Washington Carver, where the Appalachian String Band Festival is held every summer.

Swimming, boating and fishing at Summersville Lake - just 26 miles north.

Rock Climbing at Endless Wall, Junkyard, Bubba City and Summersville Lake

Hiking, biking and equestrian trails throughout the New River Gorge area. - Barn and stables are available at Fern Creek Cabins, local bike rentals and tours are available in the area.

Theatre and live music at many venues including the Historic Fayette Theatre in Fayetteville,, the outdoor Cliffside Amphitheatre performances of Theatre West Virginia at Grandview, the Tamarack stage in Beckley, as well as live music at indoor and outdoor venues in the area.

Shopping includes the work of local artisans including the Midland Trail Gallery, a pottery studio and gallery on US Route. 60, and Rolling River Glass Studio in Fayetteville. Antique shops and unique boutiques are also abundant.

Dining options include high quality, individually owned restaurants offering everything from authentic Cajun, Mexican, or Italian, to Gourmet Pizza or Tapas, to good home cooking.
